Floor Tiling

A tiled floor is only ever as good as what's underneath it. The most common cause of cracked tiles and loose joints is a base that flexes or wasn't prepared properly, so we always start by checking the subfloor, levelling it where needed and priming it for a strong bond. On timber floors we make sure there's enough rigidity, often with an overboard, before a single tile is set.

We lay everything from warm terracotta squares to large-format porcelain planks and slabs. Large tiles look fantastic but are unforgiving of an uneven floor, so we use levelling clip systems to keep the surface dead flat and remove any lippage between tiles. Layout is planned from the centre or the main sight line out, so the cuts at the walls are balanced and full tiles fall where they matter most.

Tiled floors are an ideal partner for underfloor heating and we fit happily over it, using flexible adhesives and grouts that cope with the gentle movement from warming and cooling. Finished and sealed where the material needs it, a properly laid tiled floor will shrug off muddy boots, spilt drinks and years of foot traffic.
